Spring is upon us, even though it is still quite cool in Colorado. We had a fairly mild Winter. Although, we can still get snow storms in spring time. They are typically wet snow which melts in a couple of days.

One thing I always do is fertilize our trees and shrubs in the Spring. I try to do it right before it rains as the water drives it into the soil. I use a Tree and Shrub fertilizer that is rated 10-10-10. Here is the one I usually get.

One bag is enough for most of the trees and shrubs in our yard. You don’t have to fertilize native plants like an Aspen tree or Russian Sage. But, other plants do need some fertilizer each year. We do not have good soil here.

I probably do not use the required amount on each plant, but even some appears to help. Our trees and shrubs do quite well.
