Even though it is just Carol and I, we still find a great deal of benefit to maintaining an old Honda Accord. We could get by with one car, but having a second car is the equivalent of increased freedom, sort of. 

Inevitably, one of us wants to go do something when the other one has a Doctors appointment or something that just cannot be cancelled or rescheduled. Having that second car is very helpful during those times. 

The problem with older cars is the maintenance expense. Even though Honda makes great cars, ours is almost 30 years old! That is about 400 dog years! It is expensive to maintain, but not as expensive as buying a newer second vehicle. There comes a time though, when you may need to just sell the older car because it is costing too much and make it with one car or get a newer second car. That is the dilemma. 

For now, I think we will nurse the old Honda along a while longer and see how it does. It is just an around town car, but still very handy.
