Databases
In my computing world, I have alwasys really enjoyed working with databases. I am not talking about some type of sophisticated database system, just simple databases where I can list things. If the database sofware I am using has the capability, I like to display the data in forms. Here is an example of my movie database.
I can see a movie in this display form or I can look at a list of movies if I click on the “List” button.
The application I use for my databases is Panorama from Provue Development. It has been around on the Mac for a long time and is very powerful. The Filemaker Pro application is good also, but Panorama is more powerful in some ways.
Speaking of applications, databases are one of the reasons I moved my main workflow from Linux to macOS. There just are not any good database Apps in the Linux world, at least not yet. I missed working with databases which moved me in the macOS direction.
One last thought. You can keep a database at an online service. There are several good ones. Then, you access it using a Desktop App or through a web browser. This is possible, but I want as little of my information online as possible these days. So, I prefer to keep and work with my databases locally on my own computer.
