Electronic Privacy
One of the hot button topics today is privacy. That involves privacy in every part of your life, but one area that affects all of us is electronic privacy. What kind of privacy do I have on my smartphone, my computer, even my hearing aids! What is the quality of my online privacy?
As far as computers go, the Linux OS is the most private and secure operating system in use today. It is not connected to any major tech company. It really is “we the people”. The macOS is next best as far as privacy, but it is still connected to Apple, a major tech company. Windows OS is terrible at privacy, their operating system is total spyware on the user.
There is no easy solution to maintaining our privacy. But, I think we should make an effort where we can to guard our privacy as much as possible. The rub is, how far do you go. You can really lock down your computer, smartphone and other online stuff. But, this can make your devices almost unusable. The opposite of that is to not be privacy conscious at all. The trick is to maintain some type of balance between privacy and still being able to function. Achieving that balance is not easy and is different for all of us. But, having some type of electronic balance is pretty much unavoidable these days. You have to work with it to see what is comfortable.
Make no mistake, the various government entities are monitoring us people. That also includes major companies that want your info for marketing and other reasons. It is a good idea to be proactive with your various avenues for privacy.
