We have lived in our Colorado home for 24 years. The home sits on ¾ of an acre. It is nice to have this extra space from our neighbors, but it is also a lot of work. Speaking of work, Carol and I managed the property pretty well when we were younger. I am heading into 80 years of age. I can still get the same things done in the yard each year, but I definitely cannot do it as quickly. I have to do the various jobs a piece at a time, but everything still gets done.

The thing is, I think this type of work is good for older folks. Being active keeps your mind and body engaged. Yes, it makes for some sore muscles, but if you don’t exercise your mind and body, they just atrophy.

I am actually able to include a little woodworking in my “spare” time. Can’t be in the shop as long as I used to, but I can still get projects completed over time.
