In past years I have used an online modular workspace platform called Nextcloud. The Nextcloud system has been around for many years. It keeps getting better and more powerful. I finally decided to give it another try.
You can run Nextcloud through an online vendor if you prefer. It costs money, but if your needs are small, like mine, then it is not too expensive. The problem with that is its on someone else’s computer, most often a server.
I prefer to keep my Nextcloud workspace in house. To accomplish that, I installed Ubuntu Server on one of my mini Linux computers. Then installed Nextcloud on that server. That way, Nextcloud is a local installation. It is on my computer and considerably more private.
Nextcloud has so many modules you cannot begin to count them. It comes with these default modules.
I use the Calendar, Contacts, Mail and Files modules. The Nextcloud Calendar and Contacts can be used in third-party Apps using CalDAV and CardDAV connections. They both work great. I have connected to them on my Mac, iPhone, and iPad. I plan to experiment with the Photos module in the near future.
For now, I am satisfied with my Nextcloud installation. Everything seems to be working quite well.
