The iA Writer App has lots of features. It is nice to write with, since it has focused writing which allows you to block everything else out in the App and write. In addition, it has continual spelling and grammar checking. It corrects your text as you write.
I can use iA Writer to publish to the dougman blog. It is cumbersome because it creates a draft copy. You have to login into the blog to do the final publishing process. I can handle that extra work. Other Apps publish straight to the blog without me having to login, but it is no big deal.
The one thing that bugs me about iA Writer is you cannot update an existing article that has been published. You can update the article inside the App, but when you publish, it creates a new draft. You end up with two of the same article on your blog. You have to manually delete the old one to use the new article. That is disappointing to say the least. What I can do is download the article into the MarsEdit App, make the corrections and upload it back to the blog. It replaces the current article with the corrections. Why don’t you write in MarsEdit? It is great App, but does not have focused writing. The spelling and grammar checking is not as good as iA Writer and neither is the writing environment.
For now, that might be my workflow. I like the focused writing, spelling and grammar corrections in iA Writer a great deal. I might stay with it as my main blogging App. I don’t have to make many corrections in my articles. Plus, they have an iPad version of the App which is very cool I think.
