The coffee stand is finished being built. Now comes the finish process. The first thing I need to do is apply some Special Walnut stain. That is the stain I used for the living room furniture.
Before staining, I vacuumed the sanding dust off the table. I used a tack cloth to remove any fine dust particles. Here is what the stand looks like with one coat of stain.
Some people use a brush to apply stain, but I have always used a clean, lint-free rag. You almost always apply two coats of stain. It makes the piece look more finished. This is an oil-based stain. The drying time if 24 hours. Tomorrow I will apply the second coat of stain. After that, it is the finish, which will be wipe-on polyurethane.
