I’m always on the hunt for a great Bluetooth keyboard. For me, backlighting is a must-have feature. The keyboard needs backlighting to be useful. Other features are also important, but backlighting is definitely the most crucial one.

Lately, I have used a Keychron keyboard connected via Bluetooth to my Mac. I like this keyboard, it uses Brown mechanical key switches. However, the one thing that bugs me about it is when the backlighting shuts off. Occasionally, I have to press several keys to get the lighting to come back.

I was getting a bit frustrated with this limitation, so I decided to give the MacAlley Bluetooth keyboard another shot for a bit. I truly enjoy the Blue mechanical switches over the Brown ones. The backlighting turns off to save battery life, but it lights right back up when you press any key. The MacAlley’s key layout isn’t quite as appealing as the Keychron’s, but it’s still pretty good. To be honest, I just prefer the feel of the Blue key switches.

I may not stay with this keyboard, time will tell. For now, though, all is well.
